Being in the UK means that its inevitable that you need an umbrella, its jsut one of those facts of life when it comes to living here. the rain in the uk is really rubbish and usually comes with wind, its spitting rain and the wind makes the rain really sink into your bones, with all this, you really need to be a warrior to dear wander out in the rain, thats where this Samurai Umbrella comes in handy.
OK, i’m being a little melodramatic, really, this Samurai Umbrella is just a cool umbrella and its just a bit of fun, after all its just a samurai handle on an umbrella, but its cool and fun and i want one! you can check it out a Firebox here.
i really like this cup, yes i know its not one of those objects that you’d conventionally rave on about, but this cup is a take on whats become a design classic, the Starbucks paper coffee mug, complete with its lid. the I Am Not A Paper Cup is really a tribute to modern functional product design, taking a disposable design classic and giving it some sense of permanence and making it a functional item. the I Am Not A Paper Cup is actually made from double-walled porcelain with a flexible silicone lid, perfect for that hot cup of joe during the morning commute.
I’m actually a massive apple fan, if you’ve been following this blog you’ll have read my self debate about the Apple iPad. I actually already own an iPhone, i only just recently upgraded to a 3Gs yes i know the iPhone 4 just came out and i’ve also read the very same reviews of the iPhone 4 that everyone else has been reading. but i still went for the iPhone 3Gs, mainly because I couldn’t wait and partly because new Apple products cost way too much. I’m also a little pragmatic about the Apple iPhone4, i’m not that much of a tech head that i know what to look out for so, there’s a new operating system, i’m not bothered, what concerns me more is, 1. is it easy to use? Yes it is, but no more so than the iPhone 3Gs. 2. will it crash on me? No, no more than the iPhone 3 GS. 3. will it do what i need it to do, run what i need it to run? Yes, in as much as the iPhone 3GS will. and given this, the theory of diminish marginal returns would suggest that whilst the iPhone 4 is indeed better than the iPhone 3GS, its not really going to make THAT much of a difference to my life personally.
there are however a few big treats that make the new Apple iPhone 4 stand out above the iPhone 3GS, 1. the design is decidedly modern, and whilst i’m not too into it, i can appreciate is new and cool. 2. its finally got a ’self facing’ camera, making skype video calls a possibility, though i question how often you’d use this, i can’t imagine you wandering around town doing that, and if you’re sat down making a skype call you can always use a laptop, still i can see this as a benefit, using it as a makeup mirror would be a bonus, 3. multi app tasking- i can see this being useful but again, not a life changer for me personally. 4. HD video recording – again another one thats not a game changer for me, i don’t even take photos.
so, for me personally the Apple iPhone4 really isn’t big news, my current iPhone 3GS suits me just fine, so really i’m more in to the iPad, and i’d rather get one of those. Anyways go check out the Apple iPhone 4 here.
working for an agency means you need to dress up, working for a digital agency means you’re a geek, so when geek dress up you get one of two options, 1. ‘uncool cool’ – think of this guy , hardly vogue or cool, except in a retro deliberately un-cool cool kind of way.
the alternative is ‘cool’ as in Matrix cool or drives an aston martin cool, or Yolanda Be cool cool, and that is where these USB Cuff Links fall in, this is the kind of cool that conjures up this kind of guy -
so anyways, cool nerd usb cufflinks, this is where its at, function meets the aesthetically pleasing. and when i mean aesthetically i don’t mean lame half hearted, what i mean is actually cool and actually looks good. these usb cufflinks rock, they are subtle and understated whilst actually serving as functional USB sticks each with 2GB of memory, pretty decent and pretty James Bond cool. To add to the coolness, these USB cufflinks can also be engraved. I never thought i’d actually take the time to write about cufflinks, but in all honesty these USB cufflinks are awesome, I want a pair.
check em out here or here. at around $190 they aren’t cheap but the are nice and very head of the boardroom looking.
the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe is a small step by puma in becoming smarter, more stylish and formal. As a guy, i can’t really say i’m one to get into my shoes, this being said the needs of the modern day office, the demands of many a wedding and the need to procreate with the fairer sex means that looking smart/decent and dressing up are now very much a male prerequisite. I’ve always been a fan of Puma, i think their shoes are well fitting comfortable and the perfect balance for work and play. these Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoes however are a step towards formal without out loosing that edgy young and vibrant feel. as a result they are smart enough for the office and club whist basically still remaining as trainers, though i wouldn’t recommend skating in them as they suede upper is fairly thin, not so good for walking in the rain but decent for the summer commute or city clubbing scene. the tongue and laces is by far the least comfortable part given that the tongue is basically a 2-3mm thick suede tongue it offers no padding at all for the circular laces. you’ll also want to be a little careful as the sizing of the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoes is a little out, I’m usually a size 8.5 but with the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoes i’m more like a size 7.5 which will cause you loads of headaches getting it changed, not that Puma make it difficult, if you order online they include a returns slip with a prepaid sticker you can send back with, still its the hassle that gets me when it comes to ordering fashion online. regardless if you can get a pair of these Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoes you’ll find they are well suited to virtually any occasion, ok not sport but going out during the day, formal dinners and clubbing, the sole is a sneaker sole so its flexible and comfortable, and none of the slipping and sliding full leather soles will give you.
the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe comes in three colour lines and there is both a mens and a womens version of the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe. The Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe was actually designed by Hussein Chalayan, a British/Turkish Cypriot fashion designer who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 1993, as far as fashion goes Hussein Chalayan is a pioneering raising star having obtained an MBE and working with Bjork, TSE and several other labels. the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe is sure to be a design classic much in the spirit of Puma’s collectors brand ethos where each Puma shoe is a collectors item that may not be produced again in the future.
Last but not least what i’d really like to test is if the Puma Urban Mobility Motus Fashion Shoe will work with my Xsjado inline skates, thereby making them ideal for me to commute to work on skates.
