Samurai Umbrella

Published by admin under Accessories, All Articles, Fashion, Fun, Travel

Samurai umbrella

Being in the UK means that its inevitable that you need an umbrella, its jsut one of those facts of life when it comes to living here. the rain in the uk is really rubbish and usually comes with wind, its spitting rain and the wind makes the rain really sink into your bones, with all this, you really need to be a warrior to dear wander out in the rain, thats where this Samurai Umbrella comes in handy.

OK, i’m being a little melodramatic, really, this Samurai Umbrella is just a cool umbrella and its just a bit of fun, after all its just a samurai handle on an umbrella, but its cool and fun and i want one! you can check it out a Firebox here.

MiLi iPhone Projector

this is the kind of thing that i figure would be an awesome thing to have on the go, particularly for someone like me, with my iPhone and iPad, yes I’m a real apple/mac fanboy, lets face it with a macbook, iphone and ipad there really isn’t much that i’m missing out on. the one thing about the iPhone and to a lesser degree the iPad is screen space, i don’t know about you, but i work on up to 4 spreadsheets at the same time…screen property is a big deal for me, having 2 screens is now the only way i can work productively…not so good on an ipad or an iphone. In theory the MiLi iPhone Projector should therefore help here, and whilst i’ve not tried it, it’d be cool if you could use this as a separate monitor of sorts or at least artificially increase the amount of single screen land you have. I’d love to give the MiLi iPhone Projector a try but given the cost at £229 it’s a little dear, still i can always dream! you can check it out at iWoot here.

windows music

this is really impressive, music made solely from the sounds from windows XP and 98, i’m glad they missed out windows vista as that was one hell of a flop, i can safely say i whole heartedly hate windows vista. Anyways, as far as music mashups, this is awesome.

Blogging on the iPad

I’m right now trying out the new iPad, as I just got oneq this weekend, I’ve been toting with iqt and bought several apps as well. So far so good, I’ve even had the chance to carry it around town and to the gym.
I find the iPad superb, what people say is true, you find a use for it, rather than the iPad having a clear use on it’s own. As such i’ve decided the best use for my iPad is a substitute for my lap top, I work online after all so so long as I can access the internet I have everything I need. With my new iPad 16gb wifi I’m totally mobile and don’t need to lug my (whilst fantastic, very heavy) black Mac book, saving my back some serious damage. Walking around town with the iPad it’s comfortable and just the right size the main thing I feel self conscious about is the fact it’s an iPad so I keep getting worried I’ll get mugged. At the gym, I decided to download a film and watching during my cycle exercises, it’s just the right screen size to fit on the bike and just large enough to watch a film on with subtitles, I was watching mic Mac. I also used it to record my work out with an app, again it was quick and easy on the iPad. Back at home, I was using the iPad on the loo, in the kitchen and in bed, the iPad adopted fantastically. The range of apps for the iPad is pretty decent and I’ve been using a few for work including the iworks set, I also wanted to use the iPad of casual gaming and the iPad and it’s related apps don’t fail to impress. On to blogging and I find the keyboard takes some getting used to but it’s decent enough that I could knock out a few blog posts without too much hassle working on it all day however would be a little tougher.

I’m hoping to take my iPad to work and to meeting to use as a means of taking notes in meetings and to schedule my workday, as this is a personal iPad I don’t think I’ll go as far as to add my work emails…I’d never get any sleep otherwise!
In summary, the iPad really rocks, given that the next generation of the iPad is set to be released next year around july, this is the best time to get one as spreading the cost of the iPad over the next twelve months makes it far more reasonable than if you got it at Xmas and only had six months to pay it off.

Not A Paper Cup

Not A Paper Cup

i really like this cup, yes i know its not one of those objects that you’d conventionally rave on about, but this cup is a take on whats become a design classic, the Starbucks paper coffee mug, complete with its lid. the I Am Not A Paper Cup is really a tribute to modern functional product design, taking a disposable design classic and giving it some sense of permanence and making it  a functional item. the I Am Not A Paper Cup is actually made from double-walled porcelain with a flexible silicone lid, perfect for that hot cup of joe during the morning commute.

You can find it at cutebitz, design milk, Amazon, thinkgeek, Lazyboneuk, Firebox.

Triple-plus monitor setup

Published by admin under All Articles, Computers, Technology, Work

triple monitor

if you’ve not experienced the wonders of  double monitor heaven then you’ve either got a massive screen, don’t do too much on a computer or you are stuck in a cave, seriously, monitor space is a commodity and when you’re like me and dealing with 3/4 spread sheets at a time, you need more monitors,  one of the hardest things is flipping between spreadsheets, its bad for productivity and causes mistakes.

now aside from the obvious benefits at work, a triple screen setup really rocks for gaming, if you’re into that, you can have a near immersion experience. lets not forget being able to watch movies whilst working or even watching movies across all screens.
